
James Starnes founded Totus Wealth Management in April 2021 upon resigning as General Agent of MassMutual Texas Gulf Coast, where he led the firm since 2016. James brings more than a decade of financial planning experience, focused on affluent individuals. His areas of expertise include investment management, wealth protection and wealth transfer strategies.
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, Jim knows the value of taking the time to understand his clients' needs, goals and aspirations. He built a practice concentrated on guiding clients through the financial planning process; striving to grow wealth through asset allocation and investment selection, as well as striving to be prepared for retirement while leaving a lasting legacy for the generations that follow.
Jim graduated from the University of Florida in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree, and later earned a Master of Business Administration from Palm Beach Atlantic University in 1999. He began his career in the financial services industry in West Palm Beach, Fla., with Smith Barney. Jim has held many leadership roles throughout his career, including that of branch manager in Wellington, Fla.; Baton Rouge, La.; and St. Petersburg, Fla. Jim also served as the regional development officer in Houston, for the Mid-South Region, and later as the regional sales manager with UBS in Dallas, for the South Central Region.
Jim currently resides in The Woodlands, Texas with his wife, Debbie, and four children: Kelly, James Jr., Jonathan and Justin.
